About
Catalog for the exhibition "Kunie Sugiura: Beautiful Experiments / 50 Years with New York" held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
Kunie Sugiura moved to the U.S. by herself at the age of 20 and was introduced to photography at the Art Institute of Chicago. She began to explore and experiment with a form of expression that emphasized the process of production, including the use of fisheye lenses, montage, solarization, and the combination of black-and-white and color negatives. This book is compiled chronologically from her early works in the 1960s to her recent works in 2017, tracing her trajectory of over 50 years.
